New members and longtimers as well, this is a great opportunity to come out and get involved in the club and acquire some great new daylilies for your collection.

Wow! Victoria Day Weekend certainly arrived with a bang and I'm not talking fireworks. I hope you have taken full advantage as have I and gotten the bulk of your daylilies, perennials and hosta dug, divided, planted, moved and or tossed.
Enough...this is a brief meeting reminder and invite. Twenty-eight flats of heirloom tomatoes and a tub full of daylily cultivars need my attention. You'll receive an update on the latest daylily news and views in the June ODS and Ends newsletter coming to your inbox or mailbox. Deadline due June 1st for entries.
First order of business....new and longtime members, please take some time away from the demands of your garden and life in general and come to the Royal Botanical Gardens for our Annual Babysitting (Plan Acquisition) Meeting and Plant Sale. You will have a chance to bring home and nurture a cultivar from Mort Morss and David Kirchhoff's Daylily World's 2013 Collection - this year's featured collection.
If you live three hours or more traveling time from the RBG, cannot come to the meeting and are a member in good standing you can participate as well. Just e-mail me.. Faye Collins and two members will be selected (by lottery) and receive a plant to try out in their garden.
Babysitting chair, Jenny Lynn Gasparek and crew will be processing all returns either for re-entry into the program or for the plant sale. Last year there were some incredible bargains to be had - huge quarter clumps that were instant gratification in the garden, so come prepared to shop.
For returns any plants from 2010 back (keep one fan), unless it really has not thrived let Jenny Lynn Gasparek know so that she and crew can be prepared for it's re-entry into the program or sales. Oh and please try to have your plants labeled and there by 9:30 if at all possible.
Kathy Conway will organize a sandwich bar for lunch (12:00 p.m.) and if you have time or inclination please make an appetizer, salad or dessert (or buy if cooking is not your thing) to bring along and share.
And now it's back to the garden and the final hours of a perfect day.
